A FAMILY
A Passion for Real Food
This is where taste begins
There are places in Greece that never make it onto the lists of popular destinations. Places known only to those who have lived them. Almopia is one of them.
A region of striking contrasts — high mountains like Voras with its snow-capped peak and the Tzena mountain range, thermal springs like the waterfalls of Loutra Pozar, and fertile plains stretching out at their foothills. The unique microclimate, clean water and fertile soil create ideal conditions for the production of exceptional agricultural products — from fruits and vegetables to cereals and peppers that have made Almopia known throughout Greece.
In one of the villages of this region, in Sosandra, you will find our workshop.
Vasilis
Vasilis is the soul of the workshop. And his choice is clear: handmade, like the good old days — in an era when everyone around is accelerating.
Our products belong to a rare category — among the least processed you will find on the market today. No additives, no preservatives, no artificial flavours. Only fresh ingredients, only time, only passion.
In practical terms, this means every batch is small. That every product you hold in your hands was made by a person who knew what they were doing and why they were doing it.
What drives him is not just the recipe — it is the belief that food made with care and love tastes different. A belief recognised internationally: the Great Taste Awards honoured our products with the most prestigious distinction for handmade foods in the world.
Great Taste Awards
The Great Taste Awards — the most authoritative awards for artisan foods worldwide — honoured our products with 1 and 2 stars. Every year thousands of products from around the world compete before independent judges — and only the best earn a place on the awarded list.
For us, this recognition is not just an award. It is confirmation that the path we chose from the very beginning was the right one — handmade, no additives, with respect for our ingredients and love for what we do.
Our award-winning products:
⭐⭐ Paprika spicy
⭐ Peach preserves sugar free
⭐ Trahanas with smoked bukovo
⭐ Trahanas with mushrooms
⭐ Fig jam retseli
When children come to the workshop
We believe children should know where their food comes from. That is why we open the doors of our workshop and welcome school visits — so they can see with their own eyes how trahanas is made, how a jar is filled, what handmade really means.
Recently, the Primary School of Sosandra visited us. A visit that reminded us why we started.
MEET US IN PERSON
From the very first day we opened our workshop, we have participated without exception in food exhibitions every year. Every year at DETROP, once at the Thessaloniki International Fair — and for the past two years also at Food Expo in Athens.
For a small family workshop from Sosandra, Almopia, this is not something to take for granted. It is something that fills us with pride — because it means we stand alongside large companies and hold our own through the quality of our products.
Exhibitions are for us much more than a professional obligation. They are the opportunity to meet you in person, share our flavours, and hear your thoughts.
If you see us at the next exhibition — come say hello!
